1 c. shortening
1½ c. sugar
2 eggs
2¾ c. sifted flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. soda
½ tsp. salt

4 T. sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
1. Cream together shortening, sugar, and eggs.
2. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt.
3. Combine 4 T. sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Set aside.
4. Add flour mixture to creamed mixture. Mix well. Chill dough.
5. Roll dough into balls the size of small walnuts. Roll balls in cinnamon sugar mixture.
6. Place balls on ungreased cookie sheet.
7. Bake at 375º for 8 to 10 minutes.

This recipe won a blue ribbon for me when I was a kid in 4-H. Still a great variant on the sugar cookie.
