1 c butter, softened
1/2 c sugar
2 1/2 c flour, sifted

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, gradually add sugar and blend until light and fluffy. Stir in flour until well blended. Cover with waxed paper and chill for several hours.

Work with half of dough in a time and store remainder in refrigerator. Roll dough out on floured surface to 1/2 inch thickness; cut out with desired cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Bake in a preheated 300 degree oven for 30 minutes. Cool slightly before removing from sheets.

Shortbread can also be patted into a 9 inch round cake pan and then cut into wedges.
