1 1/2 c. water
2 c. raisin
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/4 tsp. all-spice
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
4 - 4 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Bring water and raisins to a boil. Drain a 1/2 cup raisin juice and add the soda to it. Set aside. Strain raisins and set aside. Mix all ingredients in order. When mixed well, add raisins and 1/2 cup juice with soda to mixture. Mix well. Refrigerate 1 1/2 hours. Spoon dough onto cookie sheet with a tablespoon and bake at 375º. Cook until they are slightly brown. They will cook all the way through when you take them out of the oven.
