Ingredients:

CAKE:
1 C sugar
1 1/2 C flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 C shortening
1 egg
1/2 C milk
1 tsp vanilla
4 medium cooking apples, peeled and chopped
1/2 C nuts, chopped (walnuts or pecans)

TOPPING:
1/2 C nuts, finely chopped
2 T flour

Directions:
Directions:
Sift dry ingredients.
Add shortening and milk.
Mix.
Add egg and vanilla.
Stir in apples and nuts.
Pour into a greased 8 1/2x11" pan.

Mix topping ingredients.
Sprinkle on top of cake.

Bake at 350º for 45 minutes.
