2 cups sugar
1 tsp nutmeg
1 cup shortening
3/4 cup sour milk
2 eggs
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
4 cups flour

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and shortening together. Add eggs and sour milk. In separate bowl mix baking soda, salt, nutmeg and flour together. Gradually add dry ingredients into shortening mixture. Chill dough and then roll on hard lightly floured surface. Cut out cookies with round cookie cutter (use a good sized drinking glass as a substitute for the cutter). Sprinkle with sugar and place two raisins in center. Bake in a 350 degree oven. Decorate if wanted.

I remember going to my grandma’s house and seeing a big plat full of these delicious cookies. She would decorate them with white sugar and 2 raisins in the middle. They were wonderful!
