2 cups raisins
1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp ginger
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
2 cups oatmeal, quick
1/4 cup sour milk
1/4 cup nutmeats, chopped

Mix dry ingredients together and set aside. Cream eggs, shortening, milk together. Add dry ingredients gradually. Stir in raisins and nutmeats. Drop by spoon onto cookie sheet and bake for 8 to 10 minutes in a 350 degree oven.

The secret to these cookies is boiling the raisins in 2 cups of water until tender. To make sour milk add vinegar to it. 1 Tbsp vinegar to 1 cup of milk and stir.
