3/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
fruit jam or preserves

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening and sugar. Add egg and vanilla. Sift in dry ingredients and combine. Divide dough into 4 sections. Roll into 4 logs. Place on cookie sheet and make and indentation down the center of each roll. Fill hollow with jam and bake at 375º for 10 to 15 minutes. Slice into individual cookies while still warm.
