1 cup soft butter
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 1/4 cups almonds with skin, finely ground
few grains of salt
1 3/4 cups sifted flour
confectioners' sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter; add granulated sugar gradually, beat until light. Add flavoring. Stir in nuts, salt and flour. Roll out dough, a small amount at a time, on well-floured board, to less then 1/8 inch thickness. Cut with floured Christmas cookie cutters and bake in 325º over for 8-10 minutes. Cool on racks. Brush with ten confectioners' sugar and milk icing and sprinkle with colored sugars.
