3 T butter or margarine
2 T all-purpose flour
1 ½ tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper
3 cups milk
6 medium potatoes, pared and thinly sliced (6 cups)
2 T chopped onion

Directions:
Directions:
Prepare white sauce: Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Add milk all at once. Cook quickly, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and bubbles.

Place half the potatoes in greased 2-quart casserole; cover with half the onion and half the sauce.

Repeat layers. Cover and bake at 350 degrees about 1 hour. Uncover and bake 30 minutes longer.
