4 lbs green beans
5 cups cider vinegar
2 1/2 cups water
2 tbsp pickling salt (not regular salt)
2 tbsp granulated sugar
3 fresh heads of dill (flower off dill plant - if large use half)
1 jalapeno cut into 3 pieces
3 cloves garlic
3 litre jars with new lids

Wash and trim beans to fit height of jars. Boil jars in canner for 10 minutes.

Combine vinegar, water, salt and sugar in a large saucepan and bring to a boil over high heat. Add beans, cover and return to a boil; boil for 1 minute. Remove from heat and drain, reserving liquid. Return liquid to saucepan and bring to a boil.

Place lids in hot/boiling water as directed by manufacturer.

Using hot jars place one garlic clove, one head of dill and one piece of jalapeno in bottom of each jar. Pack beans into jars and pour boiling liquid into jars to within 1/2 inch of rim. Process in boiling water for 10 minutes. Boiling water should cover jars by 1 inch. Remove and let cool for 24 hours before storing.
