1/4 cup soft butter
1 cup sugar

3 1/2 cups flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
3/4 tsp ginger
1 tsp nutmeg

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs and mix well. In a small bowl add the cream of tarter to the milk and whisk together then add milk mixture to the butter mixture. In a separate bowl mix the flour, soda, salt , ginger and nutmeg together. Add to the liquid mixture and mix well. If sticky keep adding a bit more flour until you have a nice fluffy dough. Roll out the dough on a floured surface until about 1" think. Cut out doughnuts with a doughnut cutter. Fry the doughnuts in a deep fryer, rolling them over as they cook so they cook evenly and roundly. When brown remove and let dry/cool on a paper towel lined pan.
