3 cups flour, 1 cup milk (if canned milk, dilute with 1/2 water), 2 eggs, 3/4 cup block butter, 5 tsp baking powder, i/2 cup sugar, raisins if desired.

Beat eggs with milk and set aside.
Mix together with a pastry cutter or with your hands, the flour, butter, sugar, and baking powder. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk and eggs and lightly stir. Add raisins if desired. Turn out on a floured surface and kneed lightly (about 15 times), adding a little more flour if needed to hold the mixture together without sticking to your hands. Roll or press flat to about 1/2 inch thickness and cut out with cookie cutter or a glass to the desired size. Place in a non stick pan. Bake at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes.

Nan Cranford was never without a few tea buns in her home. There were always a few to serve with a cup of tea. Leaving her house without having a lunch would be an insult.
