2 1/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
Combine the above ingredients and set aside.

3/4 c. shortening
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Combine four, baking powder and salt. Cream shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla in large bowl on medium speed until light and creamy. Add dry ingredients gradually, mixing on low speed until well blended. Roll dough out on lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness.
Cut into desired shapes.Place on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake for 5 - 8 mins. or until edges are lightly browned.
Cool and decorate as desired

Freezes excellently when undecorated

This is the recipe we've always used Christmas Eve Day to make Santa Cookies so the jolly guy would always have them fresh. Great cookies and great memories.
