3 3/4 or 4 c. raisins 1 1/2 c. boiling water 4 tsp. soda 4 tbsp. butter, softened 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 1/2 c. white sugar 2 lg. eggs 4 c. flour nuts and cherries
Pour boiling water over raisins. Let cool. Add soda to water and soft butter. Mix in sugars and eggs. Add flour and mix. Put in 1-pound coffee cans that have been greased well and bake at 325 degrees for 40 minutes (check at 30 minutes). Check with toothpick.
