6 quarts popped popcorn
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. light Karo corn syrup
2 sticks butter or margarine
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt (omit if using salted popcorn)
3 c. mixed nuts.

Directions:
Preheat oven to 200º. In a heavy saucepan, melt butter then add sugar and corn syrup. Bring to boil 5-6 minutes or until you dip in a spoon and it leaves a thread from the spoon to the pan. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Pour over popcorn and nuts. (which have been combined). Mix together really well. Pour into a large baking pan, such as a turkey roasting pan, and bake for 1 1/2 hours, stirring every 20 minutes. Let cool. Store in tightly covered containers.

If using a candy thermometer, cook sugar until it reaches the temperature for the thread stage.
