3 pounds small red potatoes (cut in half or whole if small)
5 quarts water
2 whole lemons, quartered
1-2 (3-ounce) bags of crab boil seasoning
4-5 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
4 pounds Kielbasa or Polish sausage, cut into 2 inch pieces
10 ears of corn, 3-4 inch long pieces
5 pounds large fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined optional

Fill a large pot with enough water to cover all of the ingredients. Add the crab boil, lemons and bring to a boil. Adjust the crab boil to suit your taste. When the water boils, add the potatoes and sausage. Cook on medium heat for 20 minutes. Add corn and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Add shrimp and cook for no more than 3 minutes. Add salt and cayenne pepper to taste.

You can use a turkey frier pot and basket to cook a low country boil. The basket drains the ingredients and then spread out on newspaper on a table outdoors and serve.
