1/4 c. shortening
2 c. milk
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. hot tap water
1 tsp. sugar
2/3 c. sugar

2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
7-8 c. sifted flour

Directions:
Directions:
Scald the margarine, shortening and milk together and then cool. (hint: heat to just below the boiling point…do NOT boil.)
In medium bowl, put package of yeast into hot tap water plus 1 tsp. sugar. Stir and let yeast mixture rise.
Meanwhile in large mixing bowl, combine the 2/3 c. sugar, salt, eggs and vanilla.
Add yeast mixture and cooled milk mixture to the last 4 ingredients. Then begin adding sifted flour, a little at a time until dough is workable with hands and not sticky. Turn out on floured board and knead. Next put dough into greased bowl, cover lightly with dish towel, and let rise until double in size (approximately. 2-3 hrs.) Punch down and work with greased hands to shape rolls. Place into greased pans. Cover and let rise again (30-45 min.)
Bake rolls at 350ºF for 15-20 minutes.
