1 cup butter (2 sticks)
¾ cup brown sugar
¾ cup white sugar
2 eggs
2 ½ cups sifted all purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp baking soda dissolved in 1 tsp of hot water
1 tsp salt
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1 cup chocolate chips (regular size)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375°F’
Beat the butter, brown and white sugar and eggs together. Add the soda/water mixture. Sift in the flour and salt in the batter. Add chocolate chips, vanilla extract and nuts (optional). Mix thoroughly. Drop a teaspoon onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Cool on a rack.
