1/2 c butter,1 c brown sugar,1 egg,1/4 c buttermilk
2 c plain flour,1/2 tsp soda,1/2 tsp baking powder,1/2 tsp salt, 1 c chopped nuts,1 c chopped dates, 1 c red & green candied cherries.

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter & sugar. Stir in egg & buttermilk until well mixed. Stir in dry ingredients. Add nuts, cherries & dates - stir until thoroughly mixed.
Drop dough by 1 tsp full on to lightly greased cookie sheet. Top each cookie with 1/2 cherry.
bake at 400 deg for 10 - 12 min.

These are deliciously moist cookies. They are Henry's favorite Christmas cookie and I usually make a double recipe - they're everybody's favorite!
