1/2 c. butter or oleo, softened
1 - 3 oz. package, cream cheese
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
1 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. Rice Krispies, crushed coarsely
maraschino cherries, halved

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter, cream cheese, sugar and extract until light and fluffy. Sift together dry ingredients. Sift dry ingredients into butter mixture and mix only until well combined.

Refrigerate mixture for at least two hours. Preheat oven to 350º. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Cookies should be a light color, not brown.

Either put a cherry on each cookie after it is out of the oven, or apply the cherries after 8 minutes in the oven.
