2 lbs ground beef
1 lb. ground pork
4 eggs beaten
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. vegetable oil
3 T. flour
2 cans beef consomme or onion soup
3 large onions sliced
1 T. Kitchen Bouquet© Browning sauce
3/4 - 1 c sherry (cooking wine)
2 cans mushrooms

Directions:

Gently mix together first 6 ingredients until blended. Shape with a teaspoon into balls about the size of a walnut. Brown a few at a time in hot oil until browned. Place in a large baking dish. Stir 3 T. flour into the fat left in the skillet. Stir until smooth - add consomme , sliced onions and browning sauce stirring until thickened and onions are tender. Add sherry. Pour over meatballs. Keep warm until served. Served with mashed potatoes, rice or pasta. This recipe freezes well.
