Cream 1/2c. Shortening, 1 1/2c. sugar, add 2 eggs, Beat well. Add 2 bottles read food coloring,
2 1/2 T. Cocoa. Then add 2 1/4c. Flour, 1t. salt, 1t. vanilla, 1c buttermilk. Remove the beaters and add 1t. vinegar, 1t. soda. Sprinkle over mixture.. Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.

Place batter in 2 or 3 round,prepared cake pans, or 13x9 pan. Bake 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes, until toothpick comes out clean.
Icing:
1 stick Oleo Margarine
3T. shortening
1c sugar
3T. Flour
2/3c. milk
1t. vanilla
Mix together, beat until smooth, adding 1T. of flour at a time.
