Ingredients:
Ingredients:
10 Fat squirrels, dead and dressed for the pot (an' huntin's the only way you're gonna get 'em son)
5 good sized spuds...chunk 'em up
4 good sized carrots... good sized chunks
1 fair sized onion...cut in large chunks
2 stalks celery...stew sized chunks
1 can sweet corn
4 chicken bouillion cubes
1 bay leaf
1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp crushed red chilies
6 cups water
Coarse ground black pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Shoot the squirrels, headshots are best with a .22 LR.
Dress the critters for the pot.
Smear squirrel blood on the cheek of each "first time kill" hunter.
Keep the tails to wear on your huntin' hats.

Get a fire goin'

Put the dressed and cleaned squirrels in big cast iron covered pot. Dump in the 6 cups water. Hang pot from tripod over open fire. Boil squirrels until nice and tender.
Remove pot from fire.
Remove squirrels from pot (save stock). Remove meat from squirrels. Give bones to dog. Set meat aside...away from dog.

Add chunked vegetables to stock
Add bouillion and spices to stock

Add wood to the fire

Hang pot back over fire.
Cook until vegetables are tender.
Put the squirrel meat back in.
Mix flour with water, get the lumps out, add to pot stirring constantly until stew sauce is thick and bubbly.

Call the boys in from the woods.

Chow down.

Sit around the campfire tellin' tall tales, burpin' and belchin'...and anything else that might come out.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
This is my dream folks, campin' and huntin' with my boys, sons and grandsons (and any daughters & granddaughters with the inclination to go along...but you gotta hunt) in the fall woods. Leaves fallin' down and the sound of squirrels barkin', chitterin' and cuttin' nuts. I made this recipe up out of my head just now, got no idea what it tastes like (but I'm goin' squirrel huntin' next week and I'm gonna find out). I'll let you know.
