1 3/4 C flour
1 C milk 1/2
1/2 c shortening
2 sq. melted chocolalte
1/8 tsp salt
1 tsp baking pwdr.
2 egg yolks
1 tsp vanilla
2 egg whites, beaten stiffly-add last-fold in
use 3 layer pans
Bake at 350. (Mother never put in how long and it would be hard to ask her now.)

Icing
3 c 4x sugar
butter size of an egg
3 tbsp cream, about
2 sq. melted chocolate
1 tsp vanilla

Aunt Mary Cohoon, my Grandpa's sister, was a cook for a wealthy family in Syracuse 60 yrs. She came to live with us at age 80, died in 1948, age 88. This was a Cohoon family favorite for generations.
