"A man who was fond of wine was offered some grapes at dessert after dinner. "Much obliged," said he, pushing the plate aside; "I am not accustomed to take my wine in pills."--Jean Antheleme Brillat-Savarin, The Physiology of Taste

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
* 4 cups rice krispies cereal
* 1 12 oz. pkg butterscotch morsels
* 1 cup crunchy peanut butter
* 1 12 oz. pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Put the rice krispies in a large mixing bowl.

In a double boiler, combine the butterscotch chips and peanut butter. Heat, stirring constantly to melt all of the chips.

When the butterscotch chips are completely melted, pour the mixture over the rice krispies. Gently stir so that you are not crushing the rice krispies. Let the mixture sit to cool stirring occasionally.

When the mixture is cool enough to not melt the chocolate chips, add the chocolate chips and stir gently to mix throughout.

Spread evenly in either a 13x9 pan (thicker bars) or cookie sheet (thinner bars). Lick the bowl.

Chill in refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set. Cut into bars and remove from pan. Eat all the crumbs right away as the calories in the crumbs do not count.

it's quick, hardest thing is to wait for them to set
Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
To be true to grandmother's recipe, make these without the chocolate chips, but it's a shame to not include the chocolate chips.

If you have a hard time waiting, spread on a cookie sheet (thinner bars) and put them in the freezer to chill. You can break off pieces when nobody is looking.
