1/4 c brown sugar, lightly packed
1/4 c sugar
1 1/2 c apples, peeled, cored, and finely chopped
1 1/2 c flour
1 3/4t sp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp nutmeg
1/3 c butter, cold and cut into small pieces
1 egg
1/4 c milk
Topping:
1/4 c butter, melted
1/3 c sugar
1 tsp cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Whisk flour, baking powder, sugars, salt and nutmeg in bowl. Add the chopped, cold butter. Using fork or pastry blender, work butter into flour until coarse crumbs appear. In separate bowl, beat egg. Mix in the milk and fold in the chopped apples. Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture. Stir just until combined. Place a spoonful of batter into each cup of a greased mini muffin pan. Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden. Remove from oven and pan. Lightly brush each donut with melted butter and dunk in a bowl with sugar and cinnamon. Serve immediately.

These are a big hit and make for a nice breakfast treat or simple dessert. Leftover ones are great the next day too.
