1 1/4 c. flour
3/4 c. yellow corn meal
2 tsp baking powder
1/3 c. sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 c. whole milk
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
Honey Butter:
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/3 c. honey

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º F. Combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, sugar and salt in a medium bowl. Add the milk, shortening and egg and mix only until all ingredients are well combined.
Pour batter into greased 8x8 inch pan.Bake for 40 minutes or until top is golden brown. Let cool slightly before slicing.
For honey butter use a mixer and whip butter and honey on high speed until smooth and fluffy.
