Cake:
1/2 c shortening
1 1/2 c sugar
1oz red food coloring
1oz water
2 eggs
1 c buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
2 1/4 c flour
1 tsp salt
1Tbsp cocoa
1Tbsp vinegar
1 tsp. baking soda

Frosting:
1 c milk
1/4 c flour
1 c sugar
1/2 c crisco
1/2 c butter, softened
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Grease cake pans and line bottom with parchment paper. Grease parchment paper too. Cream together the shortening and sugar. Add in the red food coloring and water. Add in eggs and beat well. In separate bowl combine flour, salt, and cocoa. Add in half of buttermilk to egg/sugar mixture. Add in vanilla and 1/2 of flour. Stir well after each addition. Add in remaining buttermilk, then flour. In small bowl combine vinegar and baking soda. Fold into cake. Pour into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes.

For frosting: take milk and flour and cook until thick. Allow to cool. In separate bowl beat sugar, crisco, and butter until fluffy. Add in cooled milk. Add vanilla and beat until creamy. Frost cake once cooled
