1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. backing soda

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together the egg, sugar, and shortening. Add the milk and vanilla. Sift in the flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda.

Chill the dough for 45 minutes. Roll out into 1/4-inch thick balls. Place on greased sheet. Bake at 375º for 10 minutes.
