1 1/2 c. dates, cut fine
1/2 c. sugar
2/3 c. water
1 c. chopped nuts

1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
1 t. vanila
3 eggs
1/2 t. salt
1 t. soda
4 1/4 c. flour
1 t. baking powder
Directions:
Directions:
mix dates, sugar and water, cook until thick, add nuts, cool

Mix shortening, sugars, vanilla and eggs.

mix dry ingredients then add to sugar miture.
Rollout to 1/4 inch thickness. Spread date/nut mixture on dough, roll like cinnamon rolls. Chill 4 hours or overnite.
slice thin, bake on unfloured cookie sheet.

bake 350º for 8 minutes.

also good with powder sugar frosting
