1 cup brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 beaten eggs
dash salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped dates, raisins, or walnuts
1 cup rolled oats
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups flour

Directions:

Mix all ingredients together. Drop by teaspoons onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 12 - 15 mins.
