Apple Pie Bars Recipe

Ingredients:  
10 cups sliced apples
1 1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves & mace( I skip the mace)
3 Tbs flour
2 Tbs. lemon juiice
1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Mix and dot with 1/4 cup butter
PASTRY:
1 cup shortening
3 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
CUT and blend
1 egg yolk &
1/2 cup milk.
Mix together.
Roll out to 10 x 15 pan (this uses 1/2 mixture)
Put apples on top of pastry.
Roll out rest of pastry-
Put on top of apples.
Beat 1 egg white until glossy, add l Tbs. sugar
and 1 Tbs. cinnamon
Brush on top of pastry
BAKE at 375 degrees for 1 hour
Can mix 1/2 cup Powdered sugar and a little water
to make a drizzle glaze on top!! Enjoy!!!!
