1/4 cup chicken broth
2/3rds. of a cup of stout (Guinness is excellent)
1/3rd. cup fresh orange juice
1/2 stick butter
2 1/2 Tbs. packed, golden light brown sugar
1/4 tsp. ground pepper
3 pounds frozen brussel sprouts, thawed, and drained.

Cooking Method:

Combine the first six ingredients in a large, heavy, deep pot. Boil over high heat until very thick and like a syrup (about 14 minutes). Season to taste with salt. You can prepare this part of the recipe a day in advance; just cover and refrigerate it bringing it to a simmer before continuing the recipe. Add t he brussel sprouts to the sauce; cook over high heat until they are tender and coat the vegetables with the sauce stirring often for about 12 minutes. Enjoy
