3 cups milk
24 inch day old French bread loaf cut into cubes
2 16 ounce cans fancy fruit cocktail with cherries removed, drained
1/2 cup golden raisins
1/2 stick butter, melted
4 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 teaspoons freshly grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon salt

Scald the milk in a heavy sauce pan. Remove from heat and let cool for five minutes. Add bread, fruit cocktail, raisins, and melted butter. Mix well. In a separate bowl, beat eggs and add salt, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. Mix well then add to bread mixture mixing well together. Butter a 3 to 4 quart baking dish on all inside surfaces. Turn mixture into prepared pan and bake uncovered at 350º for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or until brown and center is set. Remove from heat and let cool at room temperature. Serve warm with Brandy Sauce. (recipe included this same category.

I was treated to dinner at The Court of Two Sisters in New Orleans by my parents as a graduation present. It was a wonderful experience dining in the courtyard under the magnolia trees. A beautiful memory I'll treasure all my life.
