Cake:
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups white sugar
3 cups shortening
1 cup molasses
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup apricot brandy or substitute
8 cups sifted flour
3 tablespoons cinnamon
2 tablespoons allspice
2 tablespoons cloves
1 tablespoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
8 to10 eggs

Candied fruits & nuts:
6 pints mixed fruit
3 large containers cherries
1 pound raisins
2 pounds dates
2 pounds walnuts or pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together brown sugar, white sugar, shortening, molasses, milk, eggs and brandy. Combine all dry ingredients and mix into above mixture. Fold in fruits and nuts. Bake in greased loaf pans at 250° for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. (Put water in pans in oven) When cool, wrap in cheese cloth strips that have been soaked in rum. Keep damp with rum for 4 to 6 weeks before serving.
