2 c. dates, chopped
1 c. raisins
2 c. boiling water

1 3/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter or margarine
2 eggs
4 c. flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 c. walnuts, chopped

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together dates, raisins and boiling water. Let stand 2 hours until plump. Drain off any remaining water. Preheat oven to 350º. Grease loaf pan. Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs. Mix well. Add flour and soda. Stir . Add nuts and date/raisin mixture. Stir until moistened. Pour in bread pan and bake for 1 hour.
Can be baked at 300º for 1 hour in six cleaned out soup cans that have been well greased.
