1 c. sugar
1 c. margarine
1 egg
pinch salt
3 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix all ingredients with a spoon, instead of an electric mixer. Mix together margarine and sugar until creamy. Then mix in egg, flour, salt, soda, vanilla; add them to the margarine mixture. Take one tsp. of dough and roll into a ball. Place on the cookie sheet, and press flat with glass dipped in sugar. Bake at 400 degrees about 6 minutes or until edges are brown. Yields 3 dozen.

Every year (summer) when time to go to reserve camp, I would make Duane Sugar Cookies and a large thermos bottle of lemonade to take with him; this was his very favorite. Duane would say "I only made it because I was glad to see him go; NOT so!
