1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. nutmeg

Directions:
Directions:
Cream softened butter with sugar until mixture is light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Add 2 cups of flour, cream of tarter, soda, salt and nutmeg to creamed mixture. Add rest of flour--at this point you may need to mix the flour in by hand
or using dough hooks. Once flour is all blended in, chill dough in frig. for 3-4 hours. Roll dough out on floured surface; cut into shapes. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.

Decorate after the cookies have cooled.
