1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
1/4 cup molasses
1 large egg
2 1/4 cup flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/4 tsp. salt
Granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 375º. Mix sugar, shortening, molasses, and egg in large bowl. Stir in remaining ingredients except other sugar. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Shape into balls. Dip tops into sugar. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet.
