Directions:I've made this cinnamon swirl cake in the crock pot many times. It's just what you would expect from a crock pot cake ~ dense, moist and full of sweet goodness!
A cake baked in a slow cooker is one of the most moist cakes you will ever put in your mouth. Because you are not using baking pans it is also very dense. I use my 4.5 quart slow cooker for this one, but you can use a 3 quart slow cooker.
The first thing you want to do is liberally grease the inside of the slow cooker. Use shortening or butter. Make sure to get the bottom really well. Once you get it greased, mix the sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle about 1/2 of the mixture into the greased slow cooker. You can turn it on it's side and roll it around until the cinnamon and sugar mixture coat it entirely. Once you mix the cake according the package directions, pour half of the mixture into the slow cooker. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon and sugar mixture evenly to cover the batter. Pour the remaining batter on top of the cinnamon sugar mixture. Place a paper towel over the top and put the lid on top of the paper towel to hold it in place. Cook on low for 4.5 - 5 hours. DO NOT cook this recipe on high heat. Once it is done cooking, remove the lid and paper towel and put your serving plate over the opening. Turn it upside down and the cake should slide right out. |
