2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. oil
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs
1/2 c. chopped maraschino cherries, drained
1/2 c. slivered almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º. Grease bottom of loaf pan.
Beat all ingredients except cherries and almonds with electric mixer on low speed 15 seconds. Beat on medium speed 30 seconds, scraping bowl. Stir in cherries and almonds. Pour into pan.
Bake 9" loaf 55 to 65 minutes, 8" loaf 45 to 50 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool completely. Freezes well.
