2 lbs ground beef,
1 lb. sausage,
1 small onion-chopped,
1 green bell pepper-chopped,
4-slices of bread-cubed,
3/4 cup milk 2 eggs,
1 pkg. Lipton onion soup mix,
3 T. worchesrshire sauce,
3 T. liquid smoke,
1 tsp. poultry seasoning,
1/2 tsp. salt,
1/2 tsp. pepper,

Piquant Sauce:

3 tbsp, Brown Sugar
1/4 c. catsup
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. dry mustard

Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.
Mix thoroughly the ground beef and sausage.
Add onions and green pepper. Soak bread cubes in milk, add slightly beaten eggs. Add spices to bread/milk mixture as well as worchestshire sauce, liquid smoke and the dry onion soup mix. Use a mixer to blend the bread cubes/milk/egg mixture to break it down to a fine soupy mixture. Then add to meat and sausage. Mix well with hands and form into 1 large loaf or 2 smaller-size loaves, 1/2 can be frozen for a later time as well.
Cook for 1 hr. 15 min., then drain grease and back into pan. Make" piquant sauce", Pour over meatloaf and cook for 15 min. longer.

The Piquant is a wonderful topping for the meatloaf. Double the recipe if you like the sauce as much as we do!
