1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. butter
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup milk

Nutmeg Sauce:
1 tbsp.flour
1 scant cup sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/2 tsp.lemon extract and/or
1/2 tsp nutmeg

Cake:
cream together butter & sugar, sift flour/baking powder/salt and to butter and sugar, slowly add in milk. Pour into 8x8 baking pan
Bake at 350 for approximate. 30-35 minutes until toothpick comes out clean

Sauce:
cream together, flour-butter-sugar-add to boiling cup of water over double boiler, stir until thickened, add lemon and/or nutmeg,serve over cake warm

This easy old cake recipe was given to me by your Grandmother Sally. It is a versatile white cake that can be topped with almost anything. frosting-fruit-or the Nutmeg sauce that was with the original recipe. An old Knight family favorite.
