1 1/4 cups boiling water
1/2 cup butter/margarine
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup white sugar
1 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp cinnamon
1 cup oatmeal (uncooked)
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp nutmeg

TOPPING:
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup table cream
1/2 cup chopped nuts
6 tbsps butter
1 cup coconut

Directions:

Cover oatmeal with boiling water, let stand for 20 minutes. Beat butter till creamy, gradually add sugars, beat till fluffy. Blend in vanilla and eggs. Add oatmeal, mix well. Sift flour, soda, salt and spices, add to batter and mix well. Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake at 350 F for 40 minutes.

Combine all topping ingredients. Spread topping on cooked cake and broil until frosting becomes bubbly.

Best when eaten warm.
