2 or 3 large potatoes
1 or 2 large onions

1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1-1/2-2 lbs. fish (cod, pollock, haddock)
2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup margarine
8 slices American cheese

Directions:
Directions:
Peel and cube potatoes into 3/4" pieces.
Coarsely chop onions.
In a large pot, boil onions and potatoes in enough water to not quite cover. Add salt and pepper. Wash fish and cut into 3/4" cubes. When vegetables are almost cooked, add the fish. Reduce heat and simmer about 1/2 hour. Over a very low heat, stir in milk and butter. Return to a slow boil. Once boiling, add the cheese. Stir occasionally until the cheese melts. Adjust seasonings and serve piping hot with crackers.
