1 yellow or chocolate cake mix
1 pkg. instant vanilla or chocolate pudding
1 c. water
1/3 c. oil
3 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt
FILLING:
5 T. flour
1 c. water
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
2 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cake mix, pudding, water, oil, eggs and salt. Pour into wax paper lined 9x13" pan and bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes. Let cool. Remove cake from pan and slice top half off lengthwise with a thread. FILLING: Cook flour and water until thick and cool. Combine sugar, butter, shortening and vanilla. Beat until fluffy. Add cooled flour/water mixture and beat well. Spread on bottom half of cake. Put top layer of cake on top and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

For the chocolate cake version I have used chocolate frosting rather than powdered sugar on the top. It is more like a Hostess Cupcake.
