1 large can French-fried onions;
2 bags (16 oz. each) frozen broccoli & cheese sauce, cooked according to package directions and drained;
1 c. grated sharp cheddar cheese;
1 pkg. (3 oz.) cream cheese, cut into 1/2 " cubes;
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup;
1/4 c. chopped, red bell pepper, optional; and
1/2 tsp. red pepper sauce or to taste

Prepare broccoli according to directions on package. Drain in colander or strainer and set aside.

While broccoli is cooking, preheat oven to 350 º F. Spray a 13" x 9" baking dish with vegetable oil cooking spray. Divide onions, reserving 1 cup for topping and set aside. Cut cream cheese into cubes, and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked broccoli and cheese sauce, remaining onions, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, soup, red bell pepper, and pepper sauce. Mix well. Place the mixture into the prepared baking dish.

Bake uncovered for approximately 20 - 25 minutes or until all the vegetables are tender. Sprinkle the 1 cup of reserved onions over the top of the casserole and bake 5 minutes more or until top is nicely browned.

This can be made ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking. Remove from the fridge, uncover, and bake, adding 5-10 minutes to the total baking time
