3 c sugar
1 c white Karo
3 c raw peanuts
1 stick butter
1 tsp vanilla
dash of salt
6-8 drops red food coloring

Directions:
Directions:
Bring to boil sugar, Karo, peanuts and water. Boil vigorously 5 minutes. REMOVE FROM HEAT! Add remaining ingredients. Then stir 5 to 10 minutes. Spoon drop onto wax paper.

My papa, Guy Shields, used to make this at every family holiday. I confess, it's not my favorite, but I'm just not a peanut girl. Everyone else loves them. They're a good old-fashioned country treat!
