Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
Each Christmas, Nana Andy made many, many batches of these cookies. She allowed me to choose the shapes and colors of the cookies (green Christmas trees and white Scotty dogs were my favorites). She also taught me how to operate the cookie press, frost the cookies, and decorate them with sugars and candies. The finished cookies were stored in crocks in our "fruit cellar" for holiday enjoyment or for gift giving.

Another of Nana Andy's baking projects at Christmas was fruitcakes. I'll spare you the recipe because, frankly, I don't care for fruitcake, but it's fun to remember that my job was to decorate the tops of the cakes with almonds and candied fruits. The finished cakes were wrapped in rum-soaked cheese cloth and stored in crocks to "mellow."
