2 cups white sugar
2 1/2 cups flour
2 1/2 cups oatmeal
1 1/2 cups lard or margarine
3 level tsps baking soda
2 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp ginger
2 eggs well beaten
1/2 cup golden syrup

Directions:
Directions:
Mix dry ingredients and lard like pie crust. Add eggs. Heat syrup and add baking soda to it. Add to first mixture and combine well. Roll into balls and place on cookie sheets. Bake at 350º until browned. These cookies spread so leave extra room between cookies. Remove from cookie sheet after cooling for 1-2 minutes.
